Miss Khartoum is a monotype printing project by the Sudanese diaspora-Cairene artist Amado Alfadni, it is a continuation of the artistic archival research on the history of Sudan and on the colonial and post-colonial media archive.

 

Throughout the researching of the presentation and representation of women images at the Sudanese post-colonial main stream media, how they were presented, and how they positioned and- presented themselves working with images at advertisements, magazine, social events by using photo transfer and monotype medium.

 

Miss Khartoum beauty contest between the 50s and the 70s, originally held by theSudanese Jewish community in Khartoum that carried multiple cultural and ethnic forms, presenting post-colonial diverse identity, which had been excluded by the political and social Arabization in the early nineties, imposed a monolithic identity on the society and the media industry and the issues related to reshaping the image of women according to the religious ideolog.
